Real Life Education (RLE)
At RLE, we deliver a mentor-led L.I.F.E. Programme designed to engage, empower and support the development of young people across residential and supported settings.
RLE’s approach
RLE focuses on improving wellbeing, engagement and future outcomes through relational practice, consistent professional support, opportunities for personal development, and the strengthening of positive relationships and prosocial networks.
Through trusted relationships and real-world engagement, young people are supported to develop stability, confidence, resilience and practical life skills while contributing positively to the wider home environment.
RLE operates through a single integrated service model tailored to each home or setting, with the mentor-led L.I.F.E. Programme forming the primary and central element of delivery.
Each package includes ongoing clinically informed reflective supervision and mentor support to support safe, reflective and therapeutically informed practice across the service.
Depending on the needs of the home and young people, additional consultancy, training and specialist therapeutic input may also form part of the overall integrated model to enhance outcomes and support the wider care environment. These elements are delivered as part of the integrated RLE model and in support of its core mentor-led delivery.

The L.I.F.E. Programme®
A structured pathway supporting:
Engagement · Stability · Development · Transition
Our Method
Delivered through the R.E.A.L.® Mentoring Method - a relationship-first approach grounded in consistency, emotional attunement and purposeful learning.
Rugby International star, Suaia Matagi instills a never give up mindset and encourages our young people to continue to chase their dreams.
'My new sense of purpose is to help inspire people to not make the same mistakes that I did - and show those who have made bad choices that it isn't over when you hit prison or go the wrong way and I am proof of that, my story helps light up the path towards success'
HOW WE WORK
We help support young people to develop:
We support organisations to embed relational mentoring approaches within their settings.
We help to:
We embed mentoring into everyday environments to create consistency, structure and long-term impact.
PRINCIPLES
IMPACT
Consistent relational support improves outcomes across:
The fastest-growing skills in today’s world aren’t just technical - they’re deeply human: resilience, adaptability, creative and analytical thinking, motivation and lifelong learning.
Yet many young people - particularly those in care or excluded from school - aren’t supported to develop these skills in consistent, meaningful ways.
Every week, an average of 220 young people are permanently excluded from school.
Each exclusion is estimated to cost the state £370,000 over a lifetime and the personal cost to a young person’s future can be even greater.
Young people in care are 10 times more likely to be excluded from school than their peers.

We’re proud to announce that RLE is sponsoring the Charity Golf Day on 20th June, alongside many other local businesses such as JJH Building Contractors Ltd Builders and Greenmount Projects, supporting Team Wigan and Leigh and Wigan and Leigh Hospice. ⛳️
This fantastic event has already raised over £13,000 to help fund the vital care and support Wigan and Leigh Hospice provides to individuals and families in our community. We’re honoured to be part of such a meaningful initiative.
Best of luck to our very own Jordan Turner and all the teams taking part - we’re excited for a memorable day on the course, all in support of this incredible cause.

Discussing their journeys so far, the impact RLE is having on children and young people and how rugby league equips players with invaluable transferable skills into other careers, including MENTORING.
OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFEGUARDING
Safeguarding is central to everything we do. We are committed to creating safe, supportive environments where young people are protected, valued and empowered to thrive.
We work in collaboration with appropriate professionals where specialist support is required. Mentors do not provide therapy, diagnosis or clinical intervention.
Real Life Education (RLE) Complementary Provision Statement
RLE is not a school and does not provide statutory education or act as a registered education provider. The L.I.F.E. Programme and associated RLE services operate as a complementary, non-statutory support provision delivered alongside existing education, care and placement arrangements. The commissioning school, academy, local authority and/or residential care provider retains responsibility for:
RLE complements existing provision through structured mentoring, relational support, clinically informed reflective supervision and developmental interventions designed to improve engagement, emotional regulation, resilience, independence, life skills and participation in education, employment and training pathways.
Any clinical, therapeutic, consultancy or specialist input provided within the RLE model is delivered as part of the wider integrated support framework and does not constitute standalone regulated healthcare, statutory education or local authority provision. These elements are provided solely to support and enhance the delivery of the core mentor-led L.I.F.E. Programme.
